Roshanne Wijeyeratne

The Heart of Flamenco (el corazón de flamenco)Adelaide and International Guitar Festival 201025th November 2010Just arrived back from what had to be a moment in Australian Flamenco History to have a double bill Australian line up .The evening filled with dramatic emotive gestures combined with rigorously controlled percussive foot movements and dance that is inseparably interwoven with guitar and song are some of the trademark qualities of Flamenco, mastered by Adelaide based Flamenco artist Roshanne Wijeyeratne the recent recipient of the Dance scholarship from the prestigious dance school Amor de Dios en Madrid, Johnny Tedesco and the exciting lovely young Chantelle Cano whom is finding a voice of her own on stage against these two mature performers. The singing of Pepe de Lucia was enchanting whilst the guitaring of both Oscar Guzman and Richard Tedesco was breathtaking, the percussive support of Adrian Van Nunen flawless. This was an event that blew your socks off and left you feeling proud to be in this thriving Australian Flamenco community.Through the knowledge of the elder generation and the physical stamina and technical prowess of the young, the enthusiasm of the general public to attend and the flamenco's who traveled abroad to support them bore witness to a moment in history on an Australian Stage. A big thankyou to Slava to make this all happen and whom also is a master of his guitar....love your work maestro xxxxx Ole!!!!
