SYDNEY: Spring Dance Curator's Spanish Heritage

International flamenco comes to the Spring Dance festival once again in 2012 (August) with Maria Pages and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. The decision is good news for Australian flamenco lovers thanks to the Spring Dance curator, Rafael Bonachela, tapping into his Spanish heritage. Rafael was born, and began his training in Barcelona before moving to London. In 2008 he premiered in Australia for the Sydney Dance Company and went on to become the company's Artistic Director. This being his first year of a three-year tenure as curator of Spring Dance, lets hope he continues to bring some of Flamenco's great dancers to Australian audiences.“To see great dance can actually be life-transforming... There are still a lot of people out there who just don’t know they like it yet.” - Rafael BonachelaB ook here for Maria Pages in Sydney: 22nd to 25th August 2012 sydneyoperahouse.com/whatson/dunas.aspx References:theaustralian.com.au/arts/out-about/rafael-bonachelas... - The Australian sydneydancecompany.com/person/rafael-bonachela - Sydney Dance Company insidespringdance.sydneyoperahouse.com/meet-rafael-bonachel - Sydney Opera House
